This stunning bike was custom-built for my late brother-in-law in 2003 and it carries his initials (APS) on the top tube. It was well used and carefully maintained for some years but has stood unused for ten years now. It combines the best of British frame-building with the pick of high-end European – and largely Italian – materials and components.

The frame was hand-built by Chas Roberts in Croydon in November 2002. It’s a Genesis Tourer frame made with over-sized fillet-brazed Columbus Max Nivacrom tubing – and it’s very large, with a 62cm down tube. The paint finish is a gorgeous red-to-yellow vignette.

The groupset is full Campagnolo Chorus 9-speed, with a 53/43 135 BCD chainset, 12-23 cassette, front and rear changers, cranks, chain, side-pull caliper brakes, gear shifters and brake levers, bottom bracket, fork crown, hubs, headset and (of course) quick-release levers. The seatpost is also Campagnolo, as are all cables and hosing.

Stem is Cinelli, as are the bars and handlebar tape. The bike is missing one Cinelli handlebar plug… Seat is a Selle Italia Flite Kevlar, pedals are Eilgo X600 SPD. Rims are Mavic CXP33, tyres Bontrager RaceLite B 700×23. Two Specialized aluminium bottle cages are included.

Viewing is welcomed: the bike is located in Liphook, Hampshire. Collection in person only.
