Herewe have a beautiful condition Specialized Venge Full Carbon road bike, itstarted life as a 2500 bike running tiagra and DT Swiss wheelset but has beenheavily upgraded in virtually every area resulting in this beautiful bike!

You may havenoticed that this isnt Mark Cavendishs S-Works or McLaren Venge were testing, but themore affordable Comp. Why? TdF mania and the Cav effect in the UK, Specializedhas sold or pre-sold just about every S-Works Venge in the country.

So wevetested the Comp that, while less expensive, is at least still available andisnt a million miles away from the flagship S-Works Venge. Its made from 10rCarbon the S-Works uses 11r (incorporating stiffer yarn) but it is made inthe same moulds with the same lay-up, so the frames barely heavier.Highs: Exciting ride, excellent handling and impressive comfortLows: The Fulcrum wheels are a little heavy in this companyBuy if: You want the Cav riding experience without the high price tag

But we thinkthat the Comp has one advantage over its more exalted sibling. True, itsweightier overall, which means it wont be as brutally quick as the S-Works,but Cavs model could never be said to major on comfort, which is perhaps moreof a concern to the mortals among us. The Comp has the same rapid response tospinning up the pedals and it holds speed with ease but it also has a littlemore compliance. Some of that is down to the wheels shod in Specializeds ownexcellent, supple Turbo Elite rubber but we think most of it comes from thechassis itself.

We alsoreckon that the Venge is getting better with age. Its aero profiles lookedradical and divided opinion when it first appeared in 2011, but as its rivalshave adopted aero flourishes it now appears much more normal. And we alwayslook forward to the Venges ride, with its direct steering and nimble handling.Big lean angles into corners and out-of-the-saddle blasts into inclines arevery much the order of the day. And though its comfortable, this is never abike that we wanted to pootle on

The Vengecopes well with strong crosswinds, is unfazed by gusts and the Fulcrum S3wheels are never pushed off line. It glides with little noise and minimal fuss.The wheels arent that light but they are well built and handle out-of-saddlesprints without flexing. Yes, you can feel their mass on longer climbs butthats a fair trade-off for the speed that they hold on the flat.

What wereally like about this relatively modest Venge is that it is genuinelyversatile, with enough comfort for sportives.

All parts will be meticulously wrapped in bubble wrap and the rear wheel willremain clamped to the frame protecting the derailler,mech hanger and rear offrame etc.
