Thorn Audax 90s
I bought this bike from the original owner who used it for audax racing in holland and france. It was in dry storage for a number of years in his bike shed. If you’re here you probably know all about Thorn and SJS cycles – if not head to their website. I’m getting rid of it because I was not well versed in different touring bikes – i really wanted an adventure touring bike which i can load up with gear. This is much more suitable for lightweight touring and it would be perfect for a faster pace, with less gear. Thorn say about for their MK3, it can carry 20kg, but it performs optimally loaded with 8kg. Its a really lovely bike, i hope it finds a good home with someone.
This listing is totally straight forward, so i’ll start with the flaws. It had a stuck seat post when i bought it, but I managed to get that unstuck with many kettles of hot water. I’m 6’2″ and it is now fully adjustable to my height. It’s got some chips to the paint work on the top tube, which is unfortunate, but is only cosmetic. This bike is old and has seen some use, but I have been riding it
a bit recently and its seriously fast, fantasticly light and responsive to ride. The frame is amazing quality and the steel really absorbs gives on the bumps as you’d expect.

This has all the braze-ons for panniers racks, though i don’t have any. It also came with a b&w lumotec halogen light, but its broken, and a bit old fashioned anyway. I’d suggest a Supernova E3 Pure 3 Dynamo Front Light to go with the dynamo hub. Then you’ll be in business.
