Here is my much loved Colnago – often called the Ferrari of bike brands.
As I’m getting older I’m finding the ‘race geometry’ and old-school ‘short gearing’ demanding, meaning I select, more often than not, one of my other bikes (the more relaxed, non-race bred ones) when I go out and ride.
Which is a shame – this is a bike that should be enjoyed from the saddle – not as a museum piece (IMO).
Hence this listing.
As you’ll see from the spec below, this is the real-Italian-deal.
Frame is Master Pui (with the unique ‘crimped’ tubes). Steel with chromed etched lugs.
Paint is the special ‘decor’ version – looks incredible.
(BTW: Colnago still sells this frameset new: costs 1500 – just for the frame – with hundreds extra for this paintjob)
Groupset: Colnago Veloce throughout. One of the very first to incorporate brake-lever shifting, so much so that you can see where the down-tube shifters were, dating this bike to the early 90’s.
All mechanicals are Campag, including the brakes, and even the wheel hubs.
Keeping it fully Italian: wheel rims are Ambrosio Aero and tyres are Vittorio Corso.
Saddle is Selle Italia & bar/stem is Cinelli.
I’ve had dozens of bikes over the years and I spend as much time cleaning & looking after them mechanically as I do riding them. This bike is circa 30 years old sure, but it is in good nick (this is no way a restoration project, it is ready to ride).
Size wise I’d say it is right for 5 foot 8 to 6 footers. I’m 5’11 and have always found it a tad ‘compact’ compared to my other bikes.
