Here is a very unusual version of the Raleigh Record Ace. I can’t find very much information about this incarnation of the RRA, except that it almost certainly dates from the late 1970’s (I’ve seen a similar one from 1978). The Reynolds decals on the forks date to between 1977 and 1982, so it’s got to be from between 1977 and 1980 as the livery changed to light green in the 80’s.  The forks are Reynolds 531 and although I’d be very surprised if the frame wasn’t also, I can’t find a sticker to prove it.

I bought this some time ago with the intention of completing a full restoration but time has not so far allowed me to complete it so I’m listing it here in case somebody else wishes to take it on.

The frame is in good condition with the decals clearly visible.  The paintwork is faded and original-looking the quick release wing nuts on the wheels are a nice original touch.

Take a close look at the pictures to judge the condition. The bike appears to be complete and in need of a full service with new tyres, bar tape, etc before it’s roadworthy.

The stem and seatpost are both free-moving, and the Brooks CR3 saddle would probably clean up nicely.

I welcome any inspection you’d like to make, please message me to arrange this. I’m listing a few other old cycles with 531 frames so if you’re interested in this type of thing, please take a look.
