Selling a fantastic single speed bike thats done me really well in my early London years.
It a 58cm frame, I’m 6ft-ish (180cm) tall and it fits me nicely – there is room for adjusting the seat so you might be able to judge whether it could be the right size for you.
Easy city commuter and you’ll not see another like it. It runs well, feel really solid and take rough roads well, good brakes, recently replaced inner tubes (schrader valves) and tires. New bars a year or so ago as well as a new rear freewheel, the a new saddle 2 years ago which has hardly worn and is really comfortable – highly recommend Brick Lane Bike’s saddle quality. Brake pads and cables all in good condition.
(I’ll add a note on the tires… I took a long time picking these as something that grips wet roads, good puncture durability but also not too heavy on the rolling resistance. I was considering transplanting them onto another bike and was fairly annoyed to discover they wouldn’t fit bike. But all the good fortune to our winning bidder – also kitted it with schrader tubes as I find the valves are far hardier than presta)
I’ve always been able to keep it inside and out heavy weather. However in total honesty, it could do with a new chain which is about 10 to get, it’s a slightly heavier gauge that you might see on a geared bike – which has the benefit that deals with hard use well and takes ages to stretch and wear out. That being said, the current chain is fine for getting around if you’re a fair-weather-cyclist.
I always feel the reason for a single speed is the stripped back nature of minimal components that work, rain or shine, no pain-in-the-a** adjusting tinkering. Just something solid that reliably gets you around. This is that bike!
