Originally bought in 2006 and the only upgrade since is a longer seatpost for my saddle.

The bike has a few faults that will need fixing, the rear derailleur is bent, it has a sticky front handle grip and the front brake needs adjusting.
Frame – Aluminium size Large (LIFETIME WARRANTY!).Front Forks – Lightweight Maverick Duc 32 with 6 inches of travel (they are upside down  motorbike style and get a lot of comments).Rear suspension – Lightweight Fox with 6 inches of travel.Brakes – Hope mini mono twin pots (these breaks are absolutely awesome with the huge rotors giving immediate stopping power).Gears – it’s an XT drivetrain.Tyres – Maxxis all round.
The reason I bought this bike in the first place was because of the reviews it got at the time which were consistently 10/10 , the fact it was the lightest full suspension mountain bike I could find on the market at the time at 27.5lbs. (This is still really light by current standards ie Whyte T-130 is 31.3lbs) given that some of the routes that I did involved quite a bit of carrying this was an important consideration. The frame geometry is perfect for an over the shoulder carry!! I will try and post a link to a review:

I have also noted down below what other purchasers said about the bike:
Bike Magic said: “Faultless spec, awesome performance, light weight. Handling is finely balanced and the impressive weight/travel ratio and well-controlled suspension makes the 46 excellent even in the sort of tight and twisty situations that you’d expect a six-inch travel bike to be a handful in. We can’t think of another bike that feels as at home in the woods as it does rock-blasting out in the hills. The Whyte 46 doesn’t just move the goalposts, it changes the shape of the pitch…Performance – 5/5, Value at 2,700 – 5/5 (No bikes at that price got this rating back in the day), Overall – 5/5
Singletrack said: “If you ride for miles and miles over every terrain, you’re light on equipment and you’re worried about being beaten up by endless Alpine (or Welsh even) roots and rocks, then the 46 will be right up your street. If you’re a quiet pedaler and sit and spin rather than honk and huck then you’ll love it.”
